Into Darkness

5 BBY — Hyperspace — As the Little Piggy hurtled through hyperspace, Arya dedicated her time to private pursuits. It was during this period that Nora called a briefing, shedding light on their destination — Darknell, a once-free industrial town now swallowed by the Empire’s grip.

Nora’s revelation hinted at a place stripped of its freedom, where the Empire exploited iridium for mysterious purposes. It was a stark contrast to the bustling free zones Arya had encountered. Darknell, now an “Imperial Skughole,” offered a challenge distinct from the typical Rebel strongholds. There were no allies here, just a few contacts in a company town overshadowed by Imperial control.

With the briefing concluded, Arya turned her attention to her newfound companions. As the ship hurtled through space, she spent time fostering a peculiar camaraderie between her BD-1 seeker droid and Tuk Tuk, the ship’s resident tooka. Their interactions unfolded like a delicate dance, two distinctly different creatures finding common ground within the confines of the ship.

As the ship’s navigator and guardian, Arya embraced her role, ensuring that this diverse group functioned as a cohesive unit. Her quarters became a hub for her studies — a mix of Jedi texts and Echani meditation, a ritual that helped her focus her mind amidst the Force’s whispers. The Jedi Path, however, brought with it a sense of solitude. The once-thriving Jedi community was now just a memory, and Arya grappled with the weight of her solitary journey into the Force.

In this isolation, she found solace in the company of Tuk Tuk. While BD-1 wandered off to explore the ship’s engineering marvels, Arya and the tooka shared moments of quiet companionship. The ship became a sanctuary, and each member of the crew found their niche within its metal walls.

Yet, Arya’s journey into the Force was not devoid of challenges. Her experiences in the Crystal Caverns haunted her thoughts. A crystal had called out to her, an untrained and uncertain initiate. The concept of a Force-sensitive unconnected to the Jedi Order perplexed her. Seeking clarity, she delved into Qui-Gon’s journals, hoping to find answers to her lingering questions.

Qui-Gon’s words resonated with her. He, too, had felt a sense of isolation within the rigid structures of the Jedi Order. His quest for something beyond the traditional teachings struck a chord with Arya. The Force, it seemed, was a realm of uncharted territories, and Qui-Gon had navigated its currents with a curiosity akin to Arya’s own.

Outside the confines of her Jedi studies, Arya engaged with the crew. Bonds formed during shared meals and discussions. Nora, a familiar face, became more than just a comrade. Bistan and Porkins, once distant figures, became integral parts of Arya’s daily life. In these moments of camaraderie, she found strength — a reminder that she wasn’t truly alone in this journey.

Nora’s subsequent briefings added more layers to the mystery of Darknell. An irrational orbit plunged the city into darkness for the majority of a day — a unique and challenging aspect of their destination. Landing at the Orric bay, situated in the city’s northeast corner, would be their entry point into this industrial behemoth under Imperial control.

With their hyperspace journey coming to an end, Arya’s mind danced between the Jedi texts, Qui-Gon’s journals, and the impending challenges of Darknell. The galaxy, a canvas of twinkling lights, bore witness to her silent contemplation. What lay ahead was uncertain, but Arya, armed with the Force and the camaraderie of her eclectic crew, was ready for whatever awaited them on the darkened streets of Zecraya.
