Trionex was developed late in the Clone Wars by Confederacy of Independent Systems a key ingredient in anti-shield and anti-sensor explosives. Produced in secret at a handful of covert facilities across the galaxy, it proved to be an effective compound in prototype weapons but never reached a level of production to make a significant difference in combat. When fighting ceased in 19 BBY, the development of Trionex went underground and is believed to be no longer in production. It is now a banned substance by the Empire.
Used only a few times in combat against the Republic, it quickly proved to be an effective weapon against ground- and ship-based shield generators. The compound is primarily composed of a mixture of trinium, ionite and bandorium that, when ignited by a specially-designed fusion primer, disrupts shields within its blast radius and sensors within line of sight of the ignition.
